Lt. Commander Data needed 50 L of a 60% hypo-spray solution to revive the unconscious crew of the Enterprise. All he had was a 30% solution and an 80% solution. How much of each should he mix together?

The best answer gets 10 points!

To get it to a 60% solution,
An 80% solution require to get rid of an extra 20% to get to the 60% solution
A 30% solution require an additional 30% to get to the 60% solution

so 20% x 3 = 30% x 2

This therefore gives the ration of the 80%sol: 30%solution as 3:2

You need 50L.
So for the 80%sol, you'll need 3/5 x 50L = 30L
For the 30%solution, you'll need 2/5 x 50L = 20L
