How to train your dog to fetch game?

I would like to go small game hunting with my dog. How would I teach him to fetch the dead body? Get a fake squirrel or whatever, then cover it in scent and throw it?

oddly this came up my dog get balls cig packets and lately she has been looking for my arrowss today she founf them well 3 is all i shoot ur best bet is get a fishing pole tie a oh pice of hot dog or something as that ,,then progress to a squierrl tail or a quail feathers ok excuse the spelling ok ,,,,,,,,,, just reel it in a few feet lei her have it and repeat maybe shoot first brfore you um cast ok
