Chew Toys

Any good ideas for chew toys for dogs?

my dog LOVES to chew. she had some toys and just pretty much destroys anything rawhide...
she loves her kong ball, but i need more ideas. help?

The thing with toys are a lot of dogs are focused on destroying the toy. Depends on the breed: labs were meant for hunting so they as puppies and young adults feel the need to hone their hunting skills, even when they have no use for them. With the kong togs, and other treat-dispensing toys, it gives the dogs something else to focus on. They focus on the treat, and it pushes their brain to figure out how to get the treat out. So a sturdy treat toy will last you as long as you keep treats in it. A kong without peanut butter inside is no longer a treat and a toy again to be destroyed. There is a Blue kong, which is rarely found other than the internet and is sold to K9 police trainers and the heavy-duty dog trainers and is the toughest thing I've ever seen. But, you have to find one.

Hard rubber toys also suffice, but the target to the dog is to destroy (their version of playing.) Nylabones are good, but can be bad because the hard plastic is rough on their digestive tracts. There are soft toys with no stuffing and they have squeakers, but again these will only last a few hours dependent on the dog. PetStages is great, with the ORKA rubber that withstands puppy chewing, but the size may not be right for your dog. Any toy the dog can get their whole mouth around has a greater chance of being decimated. Tires are great, and there are ones with a rope attached to be more fun. The ropes never last, but are fun for a while. Ropes are a good thing, as they help brush the dogs teeth and "floss" in between but you have to watch the dog around them at the same time. The strands can get stuck or ingested and cause choking and irritation.
