What is your favorite alternative cat litter?

I'm currently using Tidy Cat Scoop Crystal Blend. Has anyone found that any of the alternative litters (wheat, corn, newspaper, pine, etc.) work better? I don't want to spend the extra money if they don't. Have you found any that you don't like?

Feline Pine. The one I use is basically pure sawdust. It works just like the clumping litter but it's a lot cheaper. Only problem I'm having is that the sawdust particles are getting stuck in their paws and it's all over my rugs and it's hard to vacuum out. It controls the odor much better than regular kitty litter. They say it's flushable but I'd rather not risk it. Feline Pine also makes condensed sawdust pellets that break down when the cats pee on them and it soaks up the urine. I just bought a bag but haven't tried it yet.

*I'm looking into buying bulk sawdust, the kind people use for gerbils, etc.. I'm sure it's much cheaper than a bag of sawdust with special packaging for cats.

The only kitty litter I really hate is the cheap clay kind. It creates powder/dust clouds that coats everything I have near the litter box. It's also bad for the cats to breathe in that powder. The worst one with that is Hartz pH5 non-clumping litter. It's one of the cheapest ones and I used it for years but I try not to anymore.
